Membership Opportunities at Urbana Volunteer Fire Department
Are you looking to make a difference in your community? The Urbana Volunteer Fire Department welcomes individuals aged 16 and over who work or live in Frederick County to join our ranks. We offer three distinct membership categories to suit different levels of commitment and interest:
Active Membership
Active members play a crucial role in both the emergency and administrative functions of our department. Responsibilities include attending general membership meetings, participating in fundraising and work details, and qualifying for the Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP).
Administrative Membership
Administrative members contribute at least 12 hours annually to fundraising and work details. While not involved in emergency operations, these members are essential to the department's administrative tasks. Those interested in taking classes must attend at least one meeting per quarter. Please note, administrative members cannot hold office or vote on departmental matters.
Junior Membership
Designed for those aged 16 to 18, junior members engage in department meetings and participate in fundraising and work details. Juniors interested in training must meet these participation requirements. Their involvement in fire operations and other activities is regulated by directives from the Chief or President of the Department.
